DUO SIQUEIRA LIMA

Duo Siqueira Lima is one of the most prestigious chamber ensembles having won the Profissionais da Música Award 2015 in Brazil and the International Press Award 2014 in the United States.

 

Their work features music of the classical repertoire to popular music of Latin America.Siqueira Lima guitar duo is formed by Cecilia Siqueira, born in Uruguay, and Fernando de Lima from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

 

Cecilia and Fernando are recognized for their technical and interpretive virtuosity as well as for their daring and original arrangements for two guitars.

 

Since 2003, they have toured the world performing in major European capitals, many cities in North America as well as sojourns to Africa and Russia. They are favorites throughout the major music centers in Latin America and in the prestigious halls in Lincoln Center (New York), New World Center (Miami) and Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) among others. International Press Award 2014 in the United States. Their work features music of the classical repertoire to popular music of Latin America.

She was born in Paysandu, Uruguay in 1982 and comes from a family of prominent artists. Already in 15 years due to the fact she won first prize in the national guitar competitions. 

FERNANDO LIMA

 

Fernando de Lima was born in São Bento Abade, in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. He began studying guitar at Suzane by Luiza da Silva Carlos, in São Paulo..

CECILIA SIQUEIRA

 

She was born in Paysandu, Uruguay in 1982 and comes from a family of prominent artists. Her parents Julio Siqueira and Raquel Franco, both lecturers classical guitar, they resulted from an early age to play the guitar. Already in 15 years due to the fact she won first prize in the national guitar competitions. She studied in Paysandu by Hugo Acosta and Montevideo led by prof. Cesar Amaro Carlevaro. In this period, with concerts at various social events and appears regularly on television of Uruguay, which have in their country is gaining popularity.
 

In 2001 she won first prize at the International Guitar Competition Pro-Musica in Caxias do Sul and issued his first solo album “Lo vendre” in Germany. Thus begins a fruitful international career associated with travel and performances in South America, Europe and the United States. Among other things, she has also performed at the Royal Festival Hall and the famous Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Music critics rated it positively performances.
 

Since 2003 he lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she studied with Henrique Pinto-A and later with Fernando de Lima created a guitar duo, which became its main artistic activity. The duo released three albums and acted in more than twenty countries, including concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Warsaw, Kiev, Sarajevo, Paris, Milan, Luxembourg, Brussels, Dublin, Madrid, Pretoria, Luanda, Dallas, Miami, Las Vegas, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Asuncion.

 

He teaches and leads courses guitar at several universities in the United States and Europe, Brazilian Music Institute – University of Florida (Gainesville – Florida), SMU Meadows School of the Arts (Fort Worth – Texas) and the Royal Conservatory of Liege (Liege – Belgium). He is also a member of the jury in the program of TV Cultura – “Pre-Estreia”.

FERNANDO LIMA

 

He was born in 1978 in Sao Bento Abade, a small city in Minas Gerais´s state. He had a very musical childhood through his family that cultivate the regional musical culture. He became interested in classical guitar at the age of 12 and began studying with Luis Carlos da Silva, continuing with Marcelino Diogo Leite at the Conservatory “Maestro  Marciliano Braga " in Varginha (MG) and his main master teacher was Henrique Pinto.
 

He completed his Bachelors Degree at the “Faculdade de Artes Alcantara Machado” (FAAM) in São Paulo as well as having participated in numerous guitar concourses and seminars in Brazil and abroad, having attended lessons and masterclasses with important musicians like Fabio Zanon , Luis Cláudio Ferreira, Paulo Martelli, Sergio Abreu, John Duarte, among others.
 

He participated in several national and international competitions and was awarded in all of them. The most importants are: “II International Guitar Competition Pro-Música/SESC” in Caxias do Sul (RS), “John Duarte Guitar Competition” (Austria), “National Guitar Competition Souza Lima” and “Musicalis National Guitar Competition” in São Paulo.
 

He was highlighted at his generation when he did his first tour in Europe. His debut in London, at “Bolivar Hall Guitar Festival”, received excellent reviews from one of the most important magazines in the world of the guitar, the "Classical Guitar Magazine" publishing: "We listened a guitarist with exceptional technical skills and musical elegance".
 

In sequence he was at the “International Guitar Festival Rust” (Austria), “Festival de Guitare de Lausanne” (Switzerland) and “II Guitar Festival Irun” (Spain). The Spanish critic wrote: " Fernando Lima points out as one of the future great masters of the guitar’s world" (Spain , 2002). At the age of 22 he debuted at Quaternaglia Guitar Quartet, in which he were for five years as the first guitar of the group. With the quartet recorded two CDs and a DVD and performed throughout Brazil and the United States in important guitar and chamber music series as “Guitarists of the World”, “Allegro Guitar Series”, “Chamber Music Sedona”, “Friends of Music” and “Round Top Festival Hill”.
 

Currently, his main artistic activity is the Duo Siqueira Lima, performing with the Uruguayan guitarist Cecilia Siqueira. The duo is acclaimed as one of the most important revelations in the international guitar cenary nowadays, having already toured to over 20 countries. Their European tours includes concerts in prominent theaters and festivals like the “Festival International de Guitare de Paris” (France), “Kongresowa Palace” (Warsaw , Poland); “International Musical Festival” (Kaluga, Russia); “Jazz Festival” (St. Petersburg , Russia), “Festival de Guitare de Lausanne” (Lausanne , Switzerland), “Festival du Monde Guitares” (Perpignan - France), “National Concert Hall” and “Festival of World Cultures”, (Dublin , Ireland), “Palazzina Liberty” (Milan - Italy) , Tchaikovsky Hall (Gomel, Belarus), “Castle Ësterhaze” (Fertod -Hungary), among others .
 

Besides soloist and chamber musician, Fernando develops a profound work as a repertoire researcher and arranger.
